Wayne Weekly “Today is My Birthday…and It’s a Special One”
Written by Teddy on May 15, 2017
Today is my birthday. I’ve had a lot of experience in celebrating my “special” day. Actually I did very little to make it all happen. I guess the closest thing I did to achieve my first May 15 was respond to the Dr’s slap and take a deep breath , followed by exercising my vocal cords with the sound of a newborn’s cry. A startling introduction to the new world of light, air, cold, and new sounds.
Today I don’t dream of a new stereo, or camera, or special toy that I had high hopes to receive as a birthday gift in celebrating my special day in the past. I’m not even asking for any more tools. I’m tooled-out. Today it’s about family, friends, co-workers…it’s about people. It’s hoping that my life has somehow worked for the good in another’s life.
My wife asked me this morning what I wanted (minus a car upgrade) for my birthday. She offered a list of suggestions. I will say the ones that involved eating food were the most tempting. If I think hard enough I am sure that I can come up with something I would want…a sweatshirt seems good. That’s about all I need or want…well, I would like to have that car…but… So I’ll be happy with a special meal and time with my loved ones. You know, I might even wear a new sweatshirt.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
