Wayne Weekly “Rise and Shine…Your Light has Come”
Written by Wayne Taylor on October 20, 2017
This morning on our “Mornings” program, host Don G. aired the song Rise and Shine by artist and songwriter, Andrew Peterson.
We hear that expression regularly. How many kids were greeted to the day with Mom’s voice melodically declaring, “rise and shine”? Probably a good number.
In light of the Christian life, “rise and shine” can take on a much more significant meaning.
Yes, when we rise up in the morning we can remember “this is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it”, and that’s an act of the will, not based upon how we feel emotionally. I often have to remind myself of that.
But beyond the “getting up each day”, God gives us the spiritual resources to “rise and shine” positionally and even experientially.
Firstly, as “new creatures in Christ”, we are inhabited by the Holy Spirit of God. That gives us the ability to “walk in the Spirit” and not to “fulfill the desires of the flesh”. We also have God’s intervention in our lives for direction, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go, I will guide you with my eye”. And we also have Him as a constant companion, “I will never leave you or forsake you”.
I could go on and on.
Connecting believers with the truth of God’s Word is critically important for a victorious Christian life. That’s what the Mars Hill Network does. It brings people, of all stripes, to a mobile classroom of sorts. Whether in the home, in the car, the workplace or out of one’s pocket via a cell phone, Christian radio from the Mars Hill Network is delivering the best of Bible teaching.
During Harvest 2017, our fall fundraiser, we look to listeners to hop on board, and support this 24/7 powerful Bible connecting media ministry. Partnering with MHN, not only secures your place in the classroom, but helps pay for the tuition of those who just might… “stumble into the classroom”, by divine providence.
Please consider enrolling, and “rise and shine”!
