Wayne Weekly “Pro-Blindness”
Written by Wayne Taylor on January 22, 2018
We have been recognizing Sanctity of Human Life month during January here at Mars Hill. Airing specials on the topic, featuring pro-life organizations under our Ministry Focus banner on our webpage, including pro-life awareness Tweets and Facebook features, and sponsoring a campaign to help stock the shelves for Moms and their babies in the New Hope Family Services pantry have been part of our campaign.
The “family” is a sacred institution designed by the Creator. I use the word “sacred”, because human life is sacred. God’s crown of creation is mankind, made in His very image.
I believe with my whole heart that even the most vocal pro-abortion people really know in their heart of hearts that abortion is the taking of a human life. Hearts can become hard for many reasons. Conscience seared. Perhaps some on the pro-abortion side have had tragic experiences in their family life that may be the catalyst for their support of the so called “woman’s right to choose” movement. Perhaps experiencing an abortion in their own lives, or experiencing termination of a pregnancy in the life of a loved one has moved them over to the pro-abortion side in hopes of easing guilt. And, some, I will have to believe, have hardened their hearts so much for the sake of monetary gain, justify their actions by clouding over the sanctity of human life in the guise of sparing the baby from a “likely” miserable existence and the Mom (and sometimes Dad) from a “burden” and a career changer.
We can all try to justify what is to our favor. But carrying a human life, is no longer a choice, but an awesome responsibility.
Pro-blindness of what’s real and what’s right characterizes our day. Not only in the sacredness of human life, but in many other areas as well.
Pray for those who are deceived, pray for those who choose to be blind. God is about mercy, forgiveness and restoration. As someone once said, “there but by the grace of God go I”.
Who is a God like you,
who pardons sin and forgives the transgression
of the remnant of his inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever
but delight to show mercy.
