Wayne Weekly “Open Windows…A Patient Reminder”
Written by Wayne Taylor on June 1, 2018
I slept last night with my window wide open. The all night warm breeze was great! These days I am usually hesitant about sleeping at night letting the “fresh” air in. I have developed allergies over the past few years and they are no fun.
But last night, no problems. I woke up clear headed.
Being rested and clear headed is a formula for setting and succeeding daily goals. I’m task orientated, so I like to put things in mental project boxes, complete them, and move on…usually anyway. I find it frustrating if I don’t get information to help me complete my goal in a reasonable length of time. Over time I’ve realized that some things just take longer than planned. I have learned to put projects back in my mental box and move on to my next priority.
Sometimes in life God makes you wait. I think He more often does that more than not. Learning to be patient generally takes a good portion of your lifetime. But waiting helps you to think things through, and often it leads to a change of mind…for the better!
One attribute of the fruit of the Spirit is patience. We also learn from the book of James that the trying of our faith works patience. Paul writes love is patient.
If I can learn of patience from an open window, just think what an open Bible will do.
Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly. Proverbs 14:29 NIV
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
James 1:3 KJV
