Hundreds of Christian and Jewish leaders gathered at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort on Tuesday for the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast, a high-profile event emphasizing strong US-Israel relations and faith-driven diplomacy.
The gathering, co-chaired by former US Representative Michele Bachmann and Robert Ilatov, a member of Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, brought together policymakers, religious leaders, and business figures from around the world. The event, which champions spiritual and political support for Israel, featured passionate calls for unwavering US backing of the Jewish state.
Member of the Knesset Benny Gantz, the former Israeli military chief of staff, former defense minister, and head of the National Unity Party, delivered a powerful message reflecting on Israel’s recent challenges and the path forward. Gantz expressed both sorrow and pride regarding the October 7 attacks, saying, “As much as I bow my head with professional shame for what happened on October 7, I raise it with pride for the rejoining of our citizens … to make sure that we win those evil trends of terrorism.”
Gantz highlighted the need for security-driven actions in Gaza, clarifying Israel’s intentions: “We do not revenge in Gaza. We do not retaliate in Gaza. All we do is secure the future.” He stressed that achieving peace in the region requires eliminating threats from groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, describing them as “interceptors” of peace.
He also praised President-elect Trump’s strategic approach to global challenges, expressing confidence in his leadership. “Now, President Trump has a very full metastrategic plate … but I know he will succeed. Why? Because he naturally differs between what’s good and what’s bad and he will choose the good.”
During her remarks, Bachmann appeared to rebuke Massad Boulos—an adviser to President-elect Trump and the father-in-law of Trump’s daughter Tiffany—for reportedly supporting a two-state solution. Bachmann invoked biblical passages, warning against dividing the land of Israel. However, Sarah Boulos, Massad Boulos’ wife, addressed the audience to clarify her husband’s intentions, emphasizing his commitment to peace in the region. Bachmann later affirmed the unity of the gathering, stating, “If anyone says after this room and after this meeting that there is a problem there, there is no problem there.”
Israeli Member of Knesset Ohad Tal, from the Religious Zionism Party, used the platform to urge President-elect Trump to reject an ongoing US-brokered hostage deal involving Hamas, calling it “a horrible deal that will roll back all of Israel’s achievements of the past year.” He implored Trump to apply “full Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria,” drawing applause from the audience. Tal described Trump’s electoral victory as a “spiritual victory for the values we all treasure.”
MK Yulia Malinovsky echoed hard-line sentiments, vowing to continue efforts to dismantle the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees. “Despite the pressure from the American administration, we will act in the interests of the State of Israel,” she declared.
Evangelist Anne Graham Lotz, charismatic leader Cindy Jacobs, and Rabbi Moshe Scheiner of the Palm Beach Synagogue were among the notable figures who led prayers and delivered messages of unity and resilience. Parliamentarians, ambassadors, and other dignitaries from several countries, such as Estonia, Norway, Brazil, Togo, and Rwanda, and Australian American motivational speaker Nick Vujicic also attended, underscoring the international scope of the event.
Bachmann, reflecting on Trump’s leadership, told the audience, “We believe God answered” the prayers of Christian Americans regarding Trump’s election victory and urged him to oppose any form of a Palestinian state. She emphasized what she interpreted to be a biblical directive against dividing Israel, imploring the president-elect to announce, “Under my presidency, there will never, ever, ever, ever be a Palestinian state.”
Throughout the day of prayer and seminars, many pressing international issues that the future US president will face were brought to the forefront, reflecting the complex global landscape and the challenges ahead. The Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast, founded by Albert Veksler, continues to serve as a significant platform for strengthening the Christian-Jewish alliance and advocating for American and worldwide Christian support for Israel.
