(SRN NEWS) – A judge has struck down Wyoming’s ban on abortion and its first-in-the nation explicit prohibition on the use of medication to end a pregnancy. Teton (TEE-ton) County District Judge Melissa Owens ruled that the laws violate women’s rights under the state constitution. Abortion has remained legal in Wyoming while the judge blocked the laws from taking effect in previous orders. The plaintiffs include four women and several abortion doctors and abortion advocacy groups. One of the groups, Wellspring Health Access, opened the state’s first full-service abortion clinic last year.
An event billed as Switzerland’s biggest video game competition has been canceled after the host team’s founder posted a pro-life comment on social media and three other teams pulled out. The teams issued a statement saying they condemned the comment adding that they “can in no way accept associating our clubs and our values with such speech.” The pro-life comment has since been removed from social media and the founder’s team has also denounced him. Switzerland allows abortion up to 12 weeks of pregnancy.
The first batch of artwork from the Boy Scouts of America’s collection has raised over 3.7 million dollars at auction to help pay the compensation owed to those who were sexually abused by homosexual scout leaders. The 25 works offered up by Heritage Auctions were among over 300 from the Boy Scouts that will be sold over the next few years. Hoping to survive a barrage of sexual abuse claims, the Boy Scouts filed for bankruptcy in 2020. The 2.4 billion dollar bankruptcy plan allows the organization to continue operating while it compensates survivors.
The leader of a New York City church where pop star Sabrina Carpenter filmed suggestive scenes for a music video has been stripped of his duties. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn says Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello (gee-gahn-tee-EL-oh) has been relieved of “any pastoral oversight or governance role” at his church located in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. The priest has apologized for approving the filming at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, maintaining that he wasn’t present at the time and didn’t realize how provocative the shoot would be.
