(SRN NEWS) – As Jewish people around the world prepare to remember Kristallnacht there are plans to build a new synagogue in a German city where some of the violence took place. In Hamburg, members of the leading Jewish organization envision the reconstruction of a synagogue that was destroyed during the Nazi pogrom as a way of revitalizing Jewish life in the same space where it once flourished. Kristallnacht was a wave of violent anti-Jewish attacks that took place on November 9th and 10th, 1938 in Germany, Austria and in areas of the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia recently occupied by German troops prior to World War Two.

An amendment approved by New York voters on Tuesday enshrines abortion in the state constitution, but it also enshrines transgenderism.  The measure expands New York’s Equal Rights Amendment to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, pregnancy outcomes and reproductive healthcare and autonomy. Republicans argued that amongst other things, the amendment would provide a constitutional right for males to play on girls’ and women’s sports teams. Parents have expressed concern about that probability.

Abortion advocates had an undefeated record in state referendums until Tuesday. For the first time since the repeal of Roe versus Wade, pro-lifers were victorious at the ballot box, defeating abortion amendments in Florida, Nebraska and South Dakota. Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America, says the resounding win in Florida is “a momentous victory for life and for our entire country.” She praised Republican Governor Ron DeSantis for leading the charge against the amendment, in the face of huge spending by pro-abortion groups.

Congress has its first transgender representative. Delaware Democratic State Senator Sarah McBride, a man who is living as a woman, has been elected to the House. McBride had established a national profile as a transgender activist and national LGBT groups flooded his campaign with money.  Meanwhile, in Montana, transgender State Representative Zooey Zephyr has won re-election.  Zephyr, who is also a man living as a woman, is a Democrat and represents a district in the college town of Missoula. He also benefited from national LGBT group’s support.
