(SRN NEWS) A new report from International Christian Concern finds that seven of the 11 nations in Southeast Asia actively persecute believers. The report indicates that the governments of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Vietnam either actively persecute Christians or turn a blind eye to attacks on them by the local population. Even the Biden administration has taken note of the situation.  Vietnam has been placed in the State Department’s Special Watch List for what it calls “engaging in or tolerating severe violations of religious freedom”.  Christians make up a small minority of the population in Southeast Asia.

American Airlines says it will extend its ban on flights to Israel until September of next year and experts say other major U.S. carriers will probably follow suit. The decision stems from security concerns surrounding the on-going war in Gaza but it will likely hurt the Israeli economy.  Tourism is an important income stream for the Jewish state and if big U.S. airlines won’t fly there a lot of Americans will have to put off trips.  The all-important holiday season is looming — a time when both Jews and Christians from this country would travel to Israel for celebrations.  The American Airlines flight suspension would also affect next year’s High Holy Day season.
A global gay rights group is boycotting Israel. The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association says it will not consider Tel Aviv as a site for its 2026 conference because of the war in Gaza.  The organization has also suspended its Israeli chapter. International outcry against Israel is growing, despite the fact that the war was triggered by Hamas’ unprecedented attack on the Jewish state last fall.  More than 1,200 people — including infants — were murdered by the Muslim terrorist group on October 7th, 2023.  It was the largest mass murder of Jewish people since the Holocaust.
The 300-plus Christian homeless shelters of Citygate Network are marshalling their resources for the annual Thanksgiving Day feast.  Tens-of-thousands of people with no home to go to will sit down to the traditional meal on November 28th thanks to an army of volunteers and special donations from Christians all across the country.  Studies indicate that about 1.3 million Americans are homeless in any given year and most of them are located in America’s cities.  A significant percentage of the homeless are actually families and Citygate Network says holidays such as Thanksgiving as especially tough on them.
