(SRN NEWS) – After a number of court battles, the list of states where abortion will be on the November ballot is finally set at nine. In Missouri and South Dakota, the measures would undo current bans on abortion at all stages of pregnancy. In Florida, it would lift a ban that kicks in after six weeks. Nebraska has competing measures on the ballot. One would create the right to abortion until fetal viability, generally considered to be around 23 or 24 weeks into pregnancy. The other would enshrine the current ban that kicks in after 12 weeks of pregnancy.
According to research by the Cohen Center for Modern Jewish Studies, around 15 percent of non-Jewish students on America’s college campuses express extreme hostility toward Israel. They deny its right to exist at all and are unwilling to be friends with anyone who thinks differently. Meanwhile, another group of students, also around 15 percent of the non-Jewish population, is willing to endorse explicitly anti-Jewish beliefs such as “Jews have too much power in America.” However, they do not seem to be deeply motivated by political criticism of Israel’s government.
Anti-Semitism rears its head in Germany. Officials in the city of Zeitz say stones set up to memorialize victims of the Holocaust were stolen on October 7th — the one-year anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel. The 10 stones were laid into the pavement in locations all around the city and the effort to steal them was apparently carefully coordinated. Local officials are decrying the theft, and lawmen have launched an investigation. Anti-Semitism has surged in Germany — and around the world — since October 7th of last year.
