NYCF Participates In Family Policy Council Conference

Written by on August 2, 2023

New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms (NYCF) is New York’s evangelical Christian public policy organization. Formed in 1982, NYCF exists to influence legislation and legislators for the Lord Jesus Christ. NYCF seeks to protect human life, promote strong families, preserve religious liberty, and proclaim the Biblical concepts of justice and mercy.

As we work toward our goals, NYCF co-labors with like-minded Christian groups. One such group is Family Policy Alliance (FPA). Led by 2023 Legislative Day speaker Craig DeRoche, FPA is an alliance of 40 state-level Christian advocacy organizations, known as Family Policy Councils (FPCs). FPA champions policies like Help Not Harm (which protects children against “transgender” surgeries), Save Girls Sports (which works to prevent the intrusion of males into women’s sports and girls’ sports), and After Roe. FPA’s Statesmen Academy® programs equip legislators to be effective conservative leaders.

In mid-July, NYCF Executive Director Jason McGuire and NYCF Legislative Director Stephen Hayford attended FPA’s 2023 FPC Conference. At the conference, Jason provided attendees with an update on New York public policy from a Christian perspective. Jason and Stephen networked with leaders and staff from FPCs across the country and participated in seminars on life after Roe v. Wade, influencing younger voters, and growing an FPC. The Conference’s keynote speaker was Sam Brownback, a former U.S. senator and governor from Kansas who served as the U.S. Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom from 2018 to 2021. Other speakers included Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (via videorecording).

While NYCF is a fully independent and autonomous organization, we value our opportunities to work with FPA and other FPCs.
