Everyday Blessings #9: Walk with the Wise

Written by on August 6, 2021

You’ve heard the saying “guilty by association”, right? Meaning, you may not have done anything wrong, but you were with the wrong people at the wrong time. It’s something our parents warned us about from the time we were young. Be careful who your friends are! It’s a Biblical concept, as well. Proverbs 13:20 says, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

We’ve all seen that happen. A young person starts hanging out with the wrong crowd and very soon begins to make wrong choices. But it can happen to us grown ups as well. When we surround ourselves with people who don’t believe as we do, our testimony seems to grow weaker. We need friends who will sharpen us! Friends who will hold us accountable to do what’s right! That’s why we need in person church. We were made for relationships and fellowship. We need to be surrounded with the right kind of friends. Are you walking with wise men today? Or are you maybe a companion to fools? Make a choice toward wisdom today for long lasting effects in your life.
