Everyday Blessings #3: Distractions of Life

It’s that time of year! School is almost out! Summer is just around the corner! If your kids are anything like mine, you know how hard it is for them to stay focused on school with a sunny day just begging them to come outside and play. Maybe the distractions of this life are keeping you from staying focused on the things of God in the same way. The excitement of worldly things overshadows the things that really matter for eternity! The Sunday at the beach suits you more than the Sunday at church. The sporting event takes priority over the church event. But just as we push our children to stay focused on their school work for the time that remains, so we need good friends and mentors who will push us to stay focused on the eternal things!

Our God is faithful. He hasn’t changed. So, if you find yourself feeling far away from Him, check your journey. Maybe you’ve wandered a bit too far. You’ve been distracted. But you can correct your path! You can finish well and stay strong! It will be worth it all one sweet day.
