CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY NOVEMBER 19, 2024
THERE IS A REASON THE FOUNDERS WROTE IN ARTICLE 2, SECTION 2, CLAUSE 2 IN THE CONSTITUTION. IT’S THE ADVICE, OR ADVISE, AND CONSENT POWER GIVEN TO THE SENATE TO SCREEN PEOPLE THE PRESIDENT APPOINTS – OR WISHES TO APPOINT – TO CABINET POSITIONS AND OTHER HIGH OFFICES. THIS BALANCE OF POWER IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT US FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE INEXPERIENCED, INCOMPETENT, OR MORALLY UNFIT.
THIS IS WHY ESPECIALLY THREE OF PRESIDENT TRUMP’S NOMINEES NEED SCRUTINY. PETE HEGSETH FOR SECRETARY OF DEFENSE, MATT GAETZ FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL AND RFK, JR. FOR HHS SECRETARY, SHOULD BE QUESTIONED NOT ONLY ABOUT THEIR QUALIFICATIONS, BUT ALSO THEIR MORAL CHARACTER.
YES, THINGS NEED TO BE SHAKEN-UP IN WASHINGTON AND CORRUPTION WEEDED-OUT, BUT BY THE RIGHT PEOPLE.
THE SENATE SHOULD DO ITS JOB AND NOT ALLOW FOR RECESS APPOINTMENTS. THE NOMINEES OUGHT TO BE ABLE TO SAY WHY THEY ARE THE BEST CHOICES TO LEAD AND REFORM THE AGENCIES TO WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN NOMINATED.
TWO PROVERBS MAKE THE POINT THAT THERE IS SAFETY IN NUMBERS. PROVERBS 15:22 SAYS “GET ALL THE ADVICE YOU CAN, AND YOU WILL SUCCEED; WITHOUT IT YOU WILL FAIL.” AND PROVERBS 13:13-21 SAYS:”IF YOU REFUSE GOOD ADVICE, YOU ARE ASKING FOR TROUBLE; FOLLOW IT AND YOU ARE SAFE.”
KING SOLOMON KNEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT. HE HAD EXPERIENCE. LET THE SENATE DO ITS CONSTITUTIONAL JOB FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY. I’M CAL THOMAS.
