Wayne Weekly “Leave Me Alone”
Written by Teddy on November 6, 2015
Leave me alone!
Doesn’t sound very friendly does it? When anyone has said that to me, usually under not so good occasions, I either back off knowing I have overstepped boundaries, or challenge the person who said it.
I went for a walk the other evening. The Indian summer was too much to let slip past me without breathing it all in.
My daughter Jill had originally planned on going with me, but her plans changed at the last minute. I was left alone, at least in the physical sense. You know, sometimes going solo is just the thing we need…to be alone with our thoughts, to be alone with God.
The night sky was clear, and it was warm and a slight breeze carried pleasant smells of fall. I headed out with the sound of flying autumn leaves scraping along the hard road surface. The crunch of the dry leaves sounded beneath my feet. It was great. At times the crackling leaves sent their scent to my nose.
I looked up and enjoyed the clear now November sky. Stars shone brightly overhead and on the horizon appearing through the tree limbs nearly stripped of their autumn color.
I was alone with the leaves below me, above me, and flying beside me.
Leaves…and me alone with God.
“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” Genesis 8:22
