(SRN NEWS) – The Montana Supreme Court is continuing to block a law that bans sex-change operations on children while a court challenge plays out.  In a unanimous ruling, the justices decided that a state judge was correct in saying the law was likely unconstitutional.  The injunction will remain in effect until a trial can be held. Montana is one of 26 states that is trying to keep doctors from carrying out irreversible surgeries on kids in order to help them try to live as the opposite sex.  A federal ban on such procedures was recently introduced.

Under new rules adopted by the British Lawn Tennis Association, men will be barred from competing in the womens’ category of most domestic tournaments beginning next month.  The governing body issued its new transgender and non-binary policy saying it had to find a balance between competitive fairness and inclusion.  The rules do not apply to tournaments such as Wimbledon or ATP and WTA events held in Britain because the LTA is not in charge of those competitions.  Many other sports governing bodies are taking similar action.

One of the Nativity scenes on display at the Vatican this month features Baby Jesus swaddled in a keffiyeh (kuh-FEE-uh) — the traditional Palestinian headscarf.  Artists from Bethlehem crafted the display for the Vatican this year and are apparently using Christmas to take sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.  The Nativity is being presented at a time of surging anti-Semitism around the globe that followed last year’s devastating attack by Hamas on Israel.  Since that incident Israel has been fighting Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The House has passed a new spending package for the Pentagon which includes a ban on Defense Department health insurance plans covering so-called transgender medical treatments for children of military personnel.  The 900-billion-dollar legislation also prohibits funding for teaching critical race theory in the military.  Republican Congressman Chip Roy of Texas applauds the bill saying issues such as transgenderism “Need to be pulled out of the debate on defense, so we can get back to the business of defending this country.”
