(SRN NEWS) – Democrats are pinning their hopes for victory in November on the votes of women who are upset that the Supreme Court overturned Roe versus Wade. But that might be a flawed strategy. Experts point out that older women — even Democrats — see abortion as more of a peripheral issue compared to younger women. And while abortion may resonate deepest with younger women, they’re also a historically unreliable voting bloc. Nationally, four-in-ten women under 30 years old say abortion is their top issue, according to a poll released by KFF, a health policy research organization.

The international abortion campaign is now targeting Antigua and Barbuda.  Doctors, nurses and activists there are fighting a law that largely bans abortions, igniting a debate about the issue on the tiny twin-island nation. A top local court ruled this month that a legal challenge launched by a doctor and a nonprofit organization will go ahead as it dismissed the government’s motion to strike the case. Abortion in Antigua and Barbuda is allowed only if a woman’s life is in danger. Violators of the law can face up to 10 years in prison.

Christian relief groups are hard at work in places devastated by recent hurricanes. Members of Biltmore Church in Asheville, North Carolina, are among those delivering relief to their neighbors affected by Hurricane Helene, despite grieving their own losses of loved ones, homes and livelihoods. With the one-two punch of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton within two weeks of one another, faith-based disaster groups are getting ready for a long, slow recovery that may take years. Biltmore Church is working closely with North Carolina Baptist Disaster Relief.

Kamala Harris is apparently responding to the outrage sparked by her comments at a rally last week. Someone in the crowd shouted, “Jesus is Lord” during the Democratic presidential candidate’s speech and she responded by saying “You’re at the wrong rally.” During this week’s CNN town hall event in Pennsylvania, Harris went out of her way to talk about her personal faith, which is a little hard to pin down.  The vice president has attended a Baptist church and a Hindu temple in the past. Her husband, Doug Emhoff, is Jewish.
