Wayne Weekly “Christmas Mood Swing”
Written by Wayne Taylor on December 21, 2022
A month out from Christmas and were happily planning when to decorate, what gifts to buy, traveling plans, and even planning the Christmas meal and baked goodies.
Three weeks out we’re feeling a bit strained as we try to find the perfect gift, trying to figure what bulb is creating havoc with the Christmas tree lights, needles are already falling off of the tree, and Dad might have to work Christmas eve.
Two weeks out the perfect gift is out in all the stores, grocery prices are skyrocketing, Aunt Dawn can’t make it for Christmas as she slipped on some ice, and the college student can’t book a flight home.
One week out the perfect gift was found on-line, but there has been a delay in shipping, the furnace is acting up, the college student found a ride home by car, but the weather is looking not so good.
Christmas eve, all is well. Dad is home. The perfect gift made it on time as did the college boy. The tree looks beautiful, the stockings are hung, the baking is done, the Christmas meal is mostly prepared for tomorrow’s feast, Christmas eve church service was beautiful… and we just tell everyone how much we love the Christmas season.
