Wayne Weekly: “The Answer is Blowin’ in the Wind”

Written by on February 16, 2018

Our hearts are broken. The senseless shootings and loss of young lives at Parkland are pretty hard to bare.

I went on line and looked at the faces of the seventeen victims who died for seemingly nothing. That was a reality check. You look at the young faces with hopefully a promising future now snuffed out from this world, and you share in the mourning even more so.

The shooter, a 19 year old with all the evident signs of desperation following him to the one fateful day when he made a conscientious decision to carry out his well thought out (from all indications) carnage on those he shared this present life with. Yes, he is guilty and will reap the consequences for his despicable actions, but who else is guilty?

With no absolute moral compass to guide our society, with situation ethics being taught to youth, with everything BUT God at the disposal of our secularized school system, what can be expected?

Now we will hear from those who believe the answers are found in tightening up gun laws, and even so far as to completely do away with our constitutions second amendment rights. Their voices will echo through the halls of media and politics. Tougher school building security will be discussed. Law enforcement techniques and rights debated, as well as greater access to mental health resources.

Frankly, some of these things should all be looked at and explored. But the answer to the evil all around us is “blowin’ in the wind”.

“The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”                               John 3:8

To believe that all will come to a place of surrender to God and trust Christ as Savior, well, that just is not written in the Book. But the principals so clearly spelled out in the Word of God, will curtail the madness. The truth of the Scriptures had guided this land for well over a century and the commandments of God were taught and honored. We are seeing a generation of young adults and children who largely are ignorant of absolutes, and therefore “tossed to and fro, unstable in all their ways”.

As Christians, we hold the keys that can give hope. Let’s start unlocking doors, and watch God open hearts through the power of the gospel.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
